Description

The GC10-DET dataset is a surface defect dataset collected from a real industry environment. It contains ten types of surface defects on the surface of steel sheets, including punching, weld line, crescent gap, water spot, oil spot, silk spot, inclusion, rolled pit, crease, and waist folding. The dataset consists of 3570 gray-scale images captured to represent these defects.

Each defect type has a specific cause and appearance such as mechanical failure leading to unwanted punching defects, weld lines formed during coil changes, or water spots caused by drying during production. These defects vary in visual characteristics including shape, texture, and contrast, challenging automated detection and classification systems.

This dataset is intended for tasks like defect classification and location detection on metal surfaces, serving as a benchmark for industrial defect detection algorithms. It is referenced from a GitHub repository linked to the original research paper on deep metallic surface defect detection.
